    Basic G Code Programming Book?

    Gentlemen,
I'm looking for a good book on basic G code CNC Programming. I'm looking at a HAAS TL-1 Lathe for barrel threading and chambering and it has been recommended that I study G code. My barrel threading and chambering has been strictly limited to gearheads using dial and indicator reference or a DRO if so equipped. Your input is greatly appreciated...
    Best Regards, Matt Garrett

CNC Programming Handbook by Peter Smid is a nice reference book. I'm sure you can find it on Amazon or Ebay for a reasonable price.

I thread and chamber hundreds of barrels on my Haas SL-20. I'm sure the TL-1 will do a fine job threading but not sure how your going to drill, then rough/finish ream the chamber. Seems with no turret...keeping the three tools going to there proper depths will be a challenge.
    Good luck,
    Carl

My first Haas machine was delivered with programs for my first few jobs installed and I copied and modified them untill I got better at it, talk to them, and the machine does come with some training, from the sounds of what you wish to do It will be a fairly smooth transition. the scary part is getting past the scary part, it is a mental block, something about seeing the machine move by itself, once you learn how to slow it down and see what it is going to do before it does it, it all seems like it allways should have been that way.
